Ellen Durham —
“You’ll be better by September”
Poetry Award Winner
Hello! My name is Ellen Durham. I am currently a sophomore at Franklin majoring in English and creative writing, minoring in psychology, and plan to attend law school after graduation. “you’ll be better by september” is a poem I wrote during my freshman year, a very transitional time that did not go exactly how I had planned. I used poetry as an outlet, which is how the piece came to be. Submitting my poem led me closer to Apogee and its team, and this year I am proud to be the managing editor of the journal!

Vol. 61: Eric Walthour
Eric’s love for clay stems from his innate connection to nature from an early age. Although it has only been a recent discovery, now has he found an intrinsic need to work with this material. His goal is to bring a touch of artistry to the world of functionality in a time where mass production is so prevalent.
