THE POWER OF

THE SPOKEN WORD

Come see Angela Jackson Brown, an award-winning writer, poet, and playwright, on our campus as part of a Black History Month celebration! She will be speaking to the members of our community about the Power of the Spoken Word. There will be excerpts from her writings including Drinking from a Bitter Cup and House Repairs.

In addition to her reading, there will also be student performer Maya McCloud who will read from her collection of original poetry. Join us on February 28th 2023, at 6 pm in the Student Center Atrium. After the event, Wild Geese Bookshop will have books of Browns for sale and available to have signed. This event is hosted by the Carlson-Stauffer Visiting Writer’s Series and organized by the staff of Apogee Literary Magazine, both of the Department of English and Creative Writing.
